Adam Dread

Adam Dread has called Nashville home for over 25 years. He originally came here to attend Vanderbilt University. After graduation, Dread toured the world as a professional standup comedian. In 1992, he returned to Nashville to host an award winning morning radio show and to produce television for Dick Clark Productions and TNN.

In 2000, Dread entered law school at the Nashville School of Law. While in law school, he interned for the Office of the Public Defender and the Juvenile Public Defender and was elected to the Metro Council. After graduating, he worked with the downtown association of Jackson, Kweller, McKinney, Warden and Hayes. Adam and his partner, Blair Durham, have long aspired to have their own General Practice office. In April of 2006, Durham and Dread, PLC became a reality. Dread concentrates on many areas of law including custody and divorce matters, business formation, debt collections, and entertainment law.

On the Metro Council, Dread has drafted many pieces of important legislation in his first years of office including "The Sensible Sidewalk Law," which put an end to wasteful and sometimes dangerous "sidewalks going nowhere". He also drafted the "Taxi Passenger’s Bill of Rights," making Nashville the first city to codify such a law. Since then, other cities and countries have followed suit, with Dread’s assistance. Dread’s very first piece of legislation sought to keep private security guards from dressing too much like commissioned police officers. As a former Beer Board member, Dread has passed legislation making Davidson County beer sale regulations more sensible and with better safeguards to stop sales to minors. In the budgetary process, Dread worked hard to fully fund our mental health and drug courts and to keep our libraries open more hours. He is currently working on an "East/West Restaurant Connector" bus route. It would go from East Nashville to Hillsboro Village, making stops at busy restaurant areas until 3:00 AM on weekends. Working with the cab companies at drop off points will enable Nashvillians to explore different areas of town and help avoid downtown parking and potential DUIs.

As a Councilman, Adam Dread was proud to be endorsed by the Nashville Fire Fighter's Association, The Fraternal Order of Police, The Metro Nashville Teacher's Association (MNEA), The Nashville Business Coalition, The SEIU, The Tennessean, The Nashville Scene and many other organizations. In law, he is a member of The American Bar Association, The Tennessee bar Association, The Nashville Bar Association and The American Trial Lawyers Association. Dread prides himself on being available to his constituents and clients 24/7 and can always be reached on his cellular phone at (615) 485-5683.

Adam is married to the lovely and talented Kasey Dread, formerly Kasey Anderson.
